Aussie Frenzy... (sydney)

it's been a month since i'm back... but haven't got much time to blog. that's y taking so long to complete this full-of-pics entry. onli half of the trip here... the other half will be up much later... wahahaha eNjOy!!!

11th may'08 was the start of an amazing experience. morning flight.. many were there to send us off. thanx for coming ever so quietly... it was expected. so it was movies all the way thru' the 6+ hrs air journey. arrived at sydney ard 6pm to meet sylvia. a step outside was like natural aircon. ever so cooling! went to have pancakes on the rocks for dinner. the choc pancake goes so well with vanilla icecream... yummy~! then we followed the sounds of fireworks... & there it was! so lucky la~ next, went back to sylvia's place for an early nite.
next morning sylvia took us to town for some authentic vietnamese food. later, bought expensive taco bubble tea... its realli good! the yam was thick enough and neo was hooked onto it. hahaha made our way to no bird to rent car before making our way to bondai beach. it was sunny but cold. the sand... soft and cool. it was so beautiful....
walked around the shops nearby b4 they close. it gets dark realli early.. like 5+pm. had hurricanes for dinner... huge long ribs. they made us wear bibs... wahahha thats the result of 3 carnivores... neo is the chicken-only-almost-vegetarian. haha

Then we went back home and sylvia boiled bitter gaud soup for us~ my 1st! soup was realli good... but i didn't favour the gaud as much as leong. haha then played noisy taidi and jenga in our cosy "home". even had barley with fu chok that filled us to our brim... courtesy of sylvia's good fren. they realli pampered us... kekeke

3rd day morning... road trip to blue mountains! the drive was a long few hrs... but they kept me entertained. neo handled the navigator while leong kept the back seats neat. so much stuff... but she managed to "secure" them. she was the map reader too... in case the navigator went crazy.. which it did.. a few times. hahaha stopped along the way to enjoy the scenery. reached wentworth falls after guidance from nice pple... we had to hike a little in order to reach the falls.

made our way to check into YHA backpackers... ate cheap dominos before walking to 3 sisters. along the way... saw bowerbird gallery and thought it was a place to see birds. but it was some art gallery with lotsa great pieces. had to run to 3 sisters... as the thunder came. probably due to the high altitudes... weather changes were extreme. a while later... it got this dark. then came the mini hail... like tiny ice balls raining on us. so everyone there took cover in the souvenir shop. after some time... the sky cleared... & it was all nice again.

again.. the weather switched... so we ran to the bus stop... wondering how we're gona get back to our cosy room. we were freezing by the way. then the bus came & the bus driver offered to drop us off near YHA! how nice~ he said it was on the way.. & said "hop on!" so we reached the town near YHA and had a nice hot choc. fish & chips dinner before going back. so we juz slacked in our room for some time before we eventually knock out. YHA is highly recommended. great backpacker's inn... clean facilities. so much better than we expected. it was so comfy but too bad it was onli a nite there.

next morning had tune bread for breakfast before making our way to scenic world. took the railway ride down... which they refuse to sit in front! it was so slow... but steep. then went on the cableway to go back up... above mountains, trees & clouds. sight-seeing mostly... look at the clouds! we're soOo high....

then stopped over at blackheath for sandwich lunch... before travelling to megalong for our 1.5hr horse ride! it was a horse farm... with a parrot who couldn't stop saying "hello" each time we walked near. got our "leggings" and helmets put on, awaiting our white horses. it was a damn farnie ride. starting off was alright... but many hilarious things happened along the way. like horse like rider... especially neo's. hahaha her horse kept eating along the way. leong's was quite naughty and the first to "go toilet"... like an open tap. mine was quite steady... juz following ahead and shit-ing once. both rider and horses exercised... according to the trainer. so true... coz our legs ached a little after that.
drove to the toy museum... but it didn't seem veri appealing from the outside. entrance fee was too high. so we entered another gate which says... "best view" but was a little disappointed coz its juz ONE nice view. and so... we tried to make the best of it. they couldn't stop jumping..

so we left blue mountains and drove back to meet sylvia for dinner. too bad she's got classes... couldn't join us. went for dinner at makoto restaurant. typical jap conveyor belt kinda food... but only nicer! Next dae... went to the ever-so-popular sydney fish market! there was a wet market.. and eating place. so much variety... all sorts of seafood. it was such a shiOk meal! had my fav salmon sashimi.. so fresh and cheap! yUm YuM~ walked along a short jetty with boats anchored ard. juz love the weather.

went to paddy's warehouse... something like bugis street but much bigger, spacious and cooling. lotsa cheap stuff there and then shopped at market city. review had great clothes and was having huge discounts. i bought a top which cost 30+ after discount but the nice shoplady charged me aud10 onli coz it was the last piece and with some makeup marks. now its clean... & so worth it! ate neo's fav Nando's for dinner... then went to a huge 6-storey supre outlet. they have late nite shopping every once a week. but its only up to 8+pm. normally, shopping stops at 5+pm. that's something i can't get used to! although there's nite life... its realli a huge rush to shop anywhere. anyway, after that went to y2k at "chinatown" for some desserts...

the mountain-like thingy is actually egg white with ice cream inside.. really nice! the egg white is like eating foam... very special. the chilli fishballs were so spicy! and that's some doufu ginseng pie. hmm... some sweet soup inside with a unique taste.. but didn't realli like that though. kekeke

6th day. had quick breakfast and went to the nearby macquarie shopping centre. did a little shopping while waiting for sylvia's class to end. went for a chinese lunch at hot pot before more shopping at direct factory outlet (DFO). so it was rush shopping again... but we made the best of it. went darling harbour to enjoy the cold winds and city lights. next, went to star city... theatre and casino place. girls in gowns & guys in smart suits with bowties. all so formal & well dressed! manz... we felt kinda out-of-place... so we didn't stay long.

sylvia planned a nice italian dinner place called Sapore in leichhardt. yes... two "h"... i didn't spell it wrongly ok. hahaha its like a "little italy" in sydney. ordered to share amongst 5 of us.. including sylvia's sis. had the oh-so-yummy risotto (most left) which is like mui-fan... chewy-type of rice. then it was some pastas and salad. the squid-ink pasta (most right) was nice! juz that it doesn't realli look appealing coz of the colour. gona make u all drool now...
so after dinner... we drove past kings cross to look-see. its something like geylang... onli more westernized.. keke next day was another short road trip with sylvia's frens to hunter valley. on the way, ate hungry jacks aka burger king for breakfast. arrived at this happening open field... with lotsa pple dancing, gathering, drinking wine & relaxing. its the wine fest! wanted to see vineyards... and maybe the process of wine-making. but all were dried up...wrong season. so we did a little wine tasting before heading to tatler for lunch. kinda high class kinda food... coz sylvia & her frenz were upperclass rich. but we all shared... so the cost was spread out...pHew. hahaha oh... the choc pudding dessert was supeRb manz. too nice to be trueeEee....
then we went to a cheeze factory nearby... but was a little too late. 4+pm... the cheeze-making tour was over. so we juz roamed about the products...hahaha tried some different chz... i've finally tried bluE chz! took a tiny weeny piece...its soOoo salty. so it was almost 2 hr drive back... went eastwood village to eat at some chinese restaurant. typical dishes with rice... ate while watching the terrible china disaster on tv. words all in chinese... wasn't fast enough to understand... so i juz watched the visuals. haiz... so dishearting. these are things we cannot fully relate with. although it aches internally somewhere in the left chest, can't say i totally noe how they feel. but still... hope they're strong. can only help financially i guess.
sunday.. we all wore new clothes! decided to dress up coz going to opera house (outside) and habour bridge. had blueberry bagel with cream cheeze for breakfast. i'm so hooked! u can't believe how nice the combi is... sweet bagel with the cheeze..oOoooOooo i realli miss it! anywayz... took a bus and continued in a double-decker train at epping station to central. a little more walk... and its Rocks market! a huge tentage with many many stalls. accessories, art, food, choc, honey, nuts... so many stuff! had yummilicous corn.. so sweet & salty~ and then choc coated strawberries. so sweet la... the strawberries. went to watch sweet-making process which took almost an hr. the nice shop owner gave us each a big heart-lolli... FOC! see... i told u aussies are nice pple.
headed to opera house and i tell u... the wind was the coldest ever! so strong that it was difficult to walk! the clouds there are especially nice... & i couldn't stop taking shots of the sun. see the rays... more to come later. hahaha didn't climb the bridge coz its damn expensive... couldn't go in opera house too. so juz walked around and enjoy being blown by the wind...

as we walked to catch the cruise to manly beach...we still ate baskin robins coz we were craving for it somehow. so cold still eat icecream? hahahaha yes. thats how much we craved it. so the boat ride was not long... reached manly almost ard sunset. had some max brenner's hot choc on the way. by the time reach the beach... it was dark. so couldn't see much. grabbed 2 big-sliced pizzas and took boat back to central. on a nite boat ride... its a totally different experience when u're out on the deck. extreme bRRrr. its realli like a huge aircon blowing non-stop in your face... ur nose and ears go cold in seconds. i wanted to take photo of the flock of seagulls speeding beside the boat... but it was total darkness. it was a nice sight... but can't tahan long outside... gotta take cover~

went for dinner at seoul-ria. one thing about australia is... their food is all authentic. korean restaurant ran by koreans. not any tom, dick, harry. even the italian restaurants were so italian. hahaha anywayz... that kimchi soup was so spicylicious! 1st time i'm eating something different... other than the usual bibimbap. after dinner still quite early... so its the usual... lalalalllaalallaa at greenbox.

monday was the last day in sydney... went to have another of my fav bagel before sylvia brought us to this tea cafe called TenRen's tea. the beef noodles was so tasty! and i had greenbean tea... which was not bad. their drinks were nicer... can't remember what they were called.. hahaha later in the day, made our way to krispy cream which was near the domestic airport... and had my veri 1st kk donuts! so sweEEet... and now i know why leong kept saying the original flavour is the best. i agree!

Yep.. so this is only the sydney part. more to come... domestic flight to melbourne. off we go~
